Livingston County IDA

Creating and retaining jobs for our residents

The Livingston County Industrial Development Agency (LCIDA) has a singular mission: to create and retain employment opportunities for the residents of Livingston County. We also generate tax revenues to support government services.

We accomplish our objectives by helping economic development projects with financing, development, sponsorship, acquisition, construction and equipment purchases.

In the past five years, LCIDA has completed the following projects:

  • 2008: Attracted Coast Professional, Inc. to Geneseo. This call center will employ 100 residents.
  • 2008: Assisted American Rock Salt with another expansion project.
  • 2007: Attracted Barilla America to open a 310,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution center with a total investment of $100 million. Barilla has exceeded its hiring projection of 120 local workers.
  • 2006: Completed its third expansion financing for Nicholas Noyes Memorial Hospital and associated Livingston Heath Services.
  • 2006: Re-opened the former Foster Wheeler facility in Dansville with a consortium of three local companies: LMC Industrial Contractors, LMC Power Systems, and American Motive Power. Together, these firms employ 200 workers in energy technologies
  • 2005: Assisted Superior Foundations, a new company to New York State, complete an $1.8 million expansion project that exceeds projected employment.
  • 2004: Helped a start-up agri-business, Commodity Resource Corporation, open a new $15 million automated feed and fertilizer location that is the first facility of its kind east of the Mississippi.

By successfully fulfilling our mission year after year, LCIDA continues to deliver employment, healthcare, improved prosperity, economic welfare, and needed services to the residents of Livingston County.

A success story

Barilla America built a $100 million manufacturing and distribution center in Avon, Livingston County, after a site selector-led search of 54 locations in 13 states. The company directly employs 125 residents and indirectly creates many more jobs in packaging, trucking, distribution and manufacturing support. Since locating in Avon, Barilla America has already expanded twice.

LCIDA attracted Barilla to the area with the Empire Zone program. We also made it easy for Barilla America to build its facility in Avon using the BUILD NOW NY program to pre-permit sites as “shovel-ready” so all permits were obtained within 54 days, and the facility was fully constructed in only 53 weeks.

In addition to the many jobs created, the Barilla America project resulted in $3.3 million of infrastructure construction, including roads, water, sewer, lighting and railroad signage, at no cost to our local taxpayers.
