Blue Seal Feeds, Inc.

Blue Seal Feeds, Inc. of Arcade, NY, manufactures a wide variety of animal feeds. For many years, Wyoming County Economic Development officials and Blue Seal Feeds’ Plant Manager discussed the company’s plans to build a new warehouse. Blue Seal Feeds considered building the new warehouse at one of its manufacturing facilities in the Northeast. But finally, the company decided to expand the Arcade facility because of the strong workforce and low-cost power in Wyoming County.

Blue Seal Feeds recently completed construction of its new 60,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility.

Incentives:

The Wyoming County Industrial Development Agency provided incentives for the project, including temporary partial property tax reductions, sales tax abatement on construction materials and abatement of mortgage recording tax.

Outcome:

  • Investment of $2.8 million in the building and equipment
  • Creation of 25 new jobs over a three-year period
  • Increase in employment levels to 115 workers

Koike Aronson

Koike Aronson of Arcade, NY (a Japanese-owned company) manufactures Oxy-fuel, plasma and laser cutting machines and welding positioners. The company recently celebrated the completion of two consecutive years of expansion and job creation projects that allowed it to bring a line of laser cutting machines formerly manufactured in Japan to Wyoming County. The projects included adding approximately 30,000 square feet of new building space and purchasing new machining equipment. As a result, Koike Aronson has improved efficiency and turnaround times on orders.

Incentives:
With assistance from the Wyoming County Business Center, the company received incentives from the Wyoming County Industrial Development Agency and became Empire Zone certified.

Outcome:

  • Invested more than $6 million
  • Created 40 new jobs
  • Projected employment levels to rise to more than 150 people
